Hi. I just wanted to clear up any confusion Gina might have about me. I'm assuming her reference to me as a "country music critic" is tongue-in-cheek. However, just to set the record straight - I've been the classical music critic for the News & Observer for over ten years, and have written music reviews for national publications. (I also review dance and theatre for the N&O). 
  
 I have sung in operas, I have directed operas, and I have written two original  librettos for operas that were produced. I have seen about 350 operas staged in the US, Canada, Europe and South America. I have collected opera recordings for almost 5 decades and am familiar with the standard repertory as well as many  rarely heard works.  
  
 Mine is only one opinion, but I hope an informed and experienced one.  I don't expect or want everyone to agree with my assessments. I do hope my reviews make people think about their own reactions and give them some ideas about evaluating performances. Any criticism I give OCNC production is always based on its own standards and best productions.  
  
 I have supported OCNC from its beginnings a decade ago, and continue to be thankful for its presence here. I look forward to many more enjoyable performances.[/quote]
