I would agree on the Salome. I was stunned with the quality of the singing and performance in what I consider to be a very difficult work. It worked well in Memorial-Chapel Hill, but I hated the parking & traffic situation with that venue. I also enjoyed the Tosca and the Boheme (with certain reservations about the tenor's wig). The Don Giovanni was well sung and played, but the production left me cold. Lucia is probably my 2nd favorite behind Salome, partly due to the venue at Fletcher and partly to our terrific soprano. |
