We were delighted to see the 2008-2009 season titles listed in the Madama Butterfly program--what a wonderful line-up!

Having just seen Butterfly and the incomparable cast, I'd like to suggest that you try to engage Dean Anthony to return and play Beppe in your upcoming production of Pagliacci. According to the reviewer in the N&O, writing about Butterfly:

"The cast's potential scene-stealer was, as always with him around, baritone Dean Anthony. (If you ever have the chance to see him as Beppe in 'Pagliacci,' don't miss it.) As Goro, the matchmaker who launches the opera's star-crossed tragedy, Anthony was in constant, oily, slinky, weaselly motion."

I agree that Dean was a standout in an all-around stellar production. Butterfly SOARED, and I couldn't have had a more marvelous time!

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Glad to hear you're excited about next season's repertoire, I'm very much looking forward to it myself!

You and I were certainly thinking along the same lines with Mr. Anthony. In fact, while Dean was here for Butterfly I spoke with him about Beppe. Unfortunately for us, he's already booked for that time period.

Dean is a fantastic artist (he and I worked together for the first time in 2004, Manon Lescaut at Palm Beach Opera) and we look forward to having him back when something else appropriate arises and his schedule permits.
